A Lonchera is a Peruvian basket that schoolchildren use as a lunch box. This natural square-cut basket has a bast lock and one long handle.
The Peruvian baskets are woven by the women cooperative AMARTEMM in Medio Mundo (Huacho) and finished by weavers in Lima. The reed is extracted from lagoons. The lagoon in Medio Mundo is one of Peru's most important wetlands. The drying of the reed takes up to 5 days. Only then it is collected and brought to the weavers. The women need up to two days to weave a basket!
Approx: 17cm W, 15cm H (Plus Handles 57 cm)
NOTE: Please don't put too much weight in the baskets since it's a handmade product.
