The Bamboo bag is a classic. The design was picked up from an vintage Japanese picnic bag and is now produced in a variety of colors and sizes. We have them made by our artisans in Bali.
The material used is called "tiying tali" bamboo and grows in the forests of Bangli, Indonesia. The craftsmen procure the bamboo only on certain days of the year, based on the Balinese calendar. The season is very crucial for the quality of the bamboo. The artisans need about 5 days to make one bag. It takes a whole day to process and treat the bamboo, 3 days to drill, dye and glue the items and one day to let it dry in the sun.
